Referee Training

In preparation for the upcoming 2016 State Games of Michigan, Master Harshbarger and I would like to communicate a few of the scheduled referee training opportunities.

For Central and Eastern MI Institutes:
Date: May 7th, 2016 Time: 2:00p-4:00p Location: Tae Park TKD Central Studio – Jackson Y-Center 127 W. Wesley St. Jackson, MI 49201

For Northern and Western MI Institutes:
Date: June 4th, 2016 Time: 1:00p-3:00p Location: Orchard Hill Reformed Church 1465 3 Mile Rd. NW Grand Rapids, MI 49544 (Please note that there is a $2 cost that needs to be paid to Orchard Hill Church for the room rental. Less depending on the number of people that show up. Please pay Mr. or Mrs. Benchich the day of the training.)

For Tennessee and Kentucky Institutes
Date: July 23rd, 2016 Time: TBD by JGM Lewis Location: Tiptonville, TN

Referee Training Agenda:
Review current rules for the 2016 State Games of MI (Traditional & Grand Champion) 2016 World Class Taekwondo Tournament rules for Tennessee seminar only (Revised for 2016) Review and practice proper WTF hand commands for form, breaking, basic kicking referees Review and practice proper WTF hand commands for sparring referees. Includes: starting, breaking, continuing and stopping a match. How to issue penalties and award and announce match winners. Review and practice proper corner judging Review and practice how to complete a tournament bracket (New this session) Review and practice how to operate the electronic system (Ringmaster system if available)

In addition, this will be the first year for the issuance of certificates after the training. These will be used to denote your certification level for future refereeing assignments.

These referee trainings will serve as a refresher to all of our current referees and as a development opportunity for future referees. Continuous training is needed for us to maintain a safe and well run event. This training will also help us work to be more consistent across all of the rings.

This training will be state games specific except for the TN training.

This is a great opportunity for us to ask questions and ensure we are all uniform when it comes to our events!
